Good forum?

Question

Right many many many tiny moons ago I use to use phpbb, and they always seemed to get hacked in and exploited in places.

So i'm a little put off by phpbb, but are they any other good opensource forums, like Invision which work fine in mobile browsers and just generally easily to use

MyBB is an awesome opensource forum.

Invision Power isn't opensource anymore and is a paid license softwared now. I would never recommending the 2.X 'free' version from 'em--it's too risky as there are MANY bugs and exploits when using an oudated version.

Might be worth giving phpBB another look, I was never a fan either and always chose Invision (bit shocked to realise it's been 6 years since they offered a free version!) but when looking at new forum software last weekend I was quite impressed at how it's evolved over the years. Haven't used it in a functional community though, ended up being offered a vB license so went for that, so can't comment on it's security.

There's some good information and comparisons of the different software on http://www.forum-software.org/, but nothing beats installing them yourself and giving them a good test.
