Elliot B.
If Handcent SMS is handling the text messages on an Android phone, how can the notifications from the standard Messages app be stopped from appearing in the status bar? For example, it is frustrating to see '33 new messages' in the status bar when you've already seen them in Handcent SMS and replied etc.

Elliot B.
Open the stock messaging app and disable the notifications. Ah, excellent. Thank you. I was looking through the phone's Settings menu. I'm rather new to the Android OS :)

I only wanted to disable notifications from the Messages app. Just open the stock messaging app and disable the notifications within there. And send yourself a text and test it.
