doggbizkit00
Metroid Prime 2 details? New Metroid Prime 2 details were given. First of all, Metroid Prime is scheduled to be released on 2004 so it will be out for the Nintendo GameCube, discarding rumors that said it would be out for the next Nintendo console. The other update is that it will have more third person views so it will not look as a First Person Shooter like Metroid Prime 1 did and it will use Morph Ball Mode more often as well. source: http://www.ningc.com/news.php?article=3202

Delsphynx
Should be cool - I hope they listened to what fans said (there was a poll at one time on nintendo.com I believe) and make the game longer/more involved...
Bant Veteran Posted August 11, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 11, 2003 i know a lot of people thought that the morph ball segments were the best part of the game. I think they could have been a lot more creative with the ball, and i hope that the sequel shuts me up ;)
Gary_Player
Man I played all the old ones but I havent played any of the new ones...Super Metroid for SNES is still one of my favorites of all times
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted August 11, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 11, 2003 hmmm, third person now? Some people might not like that... Well, the originals were essentially in a third person view ;)
AndyD
Well, I think the game is much better off in first person. I don't see the point of changing it. Bant: What else would you want them to do with the morph ball? It's functions are identical to the previous versions. I don't see how anyone could actually think that it's the best part of the game. It adds to it if anything.
macrosslover
ok this time around is multiplayer deathmatch too much to ask for?? i mean come on i would have thought deathmatch would be standard in this day and age of 4 controller uber systems. .....
amen to that... Not been around for the 2D metroid games then??? Maybe you'd understand why there's no multiplayer, and why there shouldn't be any if you had. Edit: those screens from gamespot are just captures from the trailer. Boffa Jones Veteran Posted August 31, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 31, 2003 Apparantly the thrid person thing just measnt more complex morph ball puzzles and more morph ball in general.

Fedorpheux
Well, the originals were essentially in a third person view ;) true, but i think people really liked the 1st person of metroid prime. don't know how they'll like going back to 3rd person. nintendo is probably trying to go for the "it's makes you think of the old stuff but still amazes you with new stuff" angle. i hope they can pull it off
Danrarbc
It's not going back. They're expanding the use of morph ball. It wouldn't surprise me if the added another element like that that goes into a 3rd person view. For instance, maybe the spin jump.

my_username
please!! no multiplayer, there is a reason for deathmatch didnt exist on MP 1, i've read some interviews and stuff, so please NO MULTIPLAYER DEA?THMATCH..
macrosslover
How many adventures with 4 player modes have you played? tell me how hard would it be for them to have a SIMPLE mutlplayer deathmatch with samus, some of the more humanoid aliens, and whatever other skins they would choose. make hell just 6 damn maps or there you go you got you some deathmatch to add some replay value to the game. now tell me how does adding a SIMPLE multiplayer at the least detract from the single player game?? if you don't want to play the multiplayer you wouldn't have to. but some of us never pickup a single player game again once we beat it and need a little more to add some replay value to it. turok 2 had multiplayer. halo is multiplayer. so what if Metroid is a action/adventure rpg type game. why should what the single player game is effect a possible multiplayer mode?? will Samus say no i'm sorry i can't play this multiplayer DM i'm a rpg character, you want my husband Master Chief?? no she's going to blast some stuff to hell. please!! no multiplayer, there is a reason for deathmatch didnt exist on MP 1, i've read some interviews and stuff, so please NO MULTIPLAYER DEA?THMATCH.. and what is that reason? the programmers were lazy?? granted it would have add more development time and i'll slightly give them that, but it doesn't take much for them to add a simple DM, just something to do when you have 4 friends over. it doesn't have to be Halo 2 goty multiplayer, of course that wouldn't hurt but damn just add something. coop, dm, something. can 4 friends play prime together?? zelda WW? mario?? playing Smash Brothers OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again gets very boring. i don't know about you but i passed the age where i had to start buying my own games a long time ago and i want some replay value to my $50. not some game that isn't going to change if i play it again. yes Prime is a damn good game, but why should i play it again? the second time around won't be different, i'm going to do the exact same thing and i know what thye are going to do, the story is going to be the same, everything will almost be the same. i can't say that with DM, it's a different game everytime. mAcOdIn Veteran Posted August 31, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 31, 2003 I think the control scheme for Metroid really doesn't add itself to multiplayer. Kinda like Robotech Battlecry. Me and a friend tried it multiplayer and because of how the lock on worked it was useless. Just me and him flying in loops autofiring missiles. Metroid Prime wouldn't be any different. We'd play multiplayer for 5 minutes go "gee that was fun, whate else you got".

Let me guess - you started playing games in the playstation generation, or worse - later ??? MP is a great single player game, and has plenty of replayability, especially with sequence breaking, and speed runs etc.
Boffa Jones Veteran Posted August 31, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 31, 2003 I heard there are multiple endings depending on your percentage. Can anyone confirm or deny? I heard it from like ign or gamespot, so its not like a rumor. BUt i might have dremed it... So just wondering
.....
Yeh, I think it's under 75% for the worst, 75+ for the "normal" one, and 100% for the best, although I have only completed it with 100%, so I don't know what the other percentages are, I'm just guessing :p
