PHP Frameworks

  1. 1. Which framework do you prefer

  2. 2. How many different frameworks did you try before settling on your favourite?

Question

What are your opinions of the various PHP frameworks out there? The reason why I ask is that I previously used my own framework for most of my projects - but now I've found that maintaining and thoroughly testing the framework has become too time consuming. Rather than continuing re-inventing the wheel I've decided that I'll teach myself a 3rd party framework and use that for my future projects. So far I've had a go with CodeIgniter and Kohana and of the two, I think I prefer Kohana. The list of PHP frameworks is quite large and it'll take a damn long time for me to go through all of them

Being kind of new to PHP (previous experience). I've recently been learning the Zend Framework, it makes my development quicker and cuts out a lot of the tedious coding. Well isn't that the aim for every framework?

Also from what I've done it is quick and easy to setup, so it might work well for smaller projects. I find some frameworks are way too bloated for smaller projects.

I've been recommended CakePHP but was told it is quite a lot to learn. Zend, so long as you got knowledge of PHP 5's object model and obviously MVC frameworks you should get along with it.
