Video Conference through LAN

Recommended Posts

What operating system?

Windows? (Which version?)

Linux? (What distro?)

Mac? (Which version?)

As an Ubuntu user, the default messaging client "Empathy" supports a feature called "People Near Me" where you can basically IM with people on your LAN without connecting to any actual server, the computers that have it set up just talk back and forth to one another on the LAN. I believe one of the things People Near Me supports is video/audio conferencing. Can't say for sure never used it other than to send links to my wife.

If you're going for a corporate solution I would recommend Adobe Connect. We use it at work and it requires you to set up a dedicated server, but it's pretty cool because you can post links to rooms on your intranet site, upload Powerpoints, do audio/video conferencing, and it's all done via Flash in a web browser so it's practically OS independent.
