Movies with a rape scene

klay

I had "Last House On The Left" in my head as I was reading this, mainly because I only watched it the other day.

The rape scene is fairly graphic and not pleasant at all, but quite a bit of the film isn't.

I thought the same thing. That scene was very uncomfortable to watch.

They don't disturb me...It's more that they bore me lol The acting is usually so bad, and the scene is so long, that it ruins the movie more than anything...Sex usually does that in movies (The Matrix II I think it was).

But stuff in movies don't disturb me...Blood, guts, rape, it's all in a movie, not real, and simply made for entertainment.

If I want sex/rape in a movie, I'll get a porno lol

I can watch pretty much any horror movie and be ok (with the exception of signs.. I have no idea why..The Ring, Paranormal Activity, Mirrors, bring it on!! Signs? Forget it lol sleeping with the lights on DAMN YOU MEL GIBSON!!)

With that said, I will not watch any scene of that nature..

Years ago when I went to the movies to see Vanilla Sky, my wallet felt like it was raped.

But seriously, I know what you mean. Whenever I see a rape scene in a movie, it makes my blood boil. I get so angry and it's supposed to be fake. Most recently I watched "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and the rape scene bothered me.

I wanted to watch that movie too... That just put me off. I think I've had enough "rape" films for the year.

Once Upon a Time in America has two rapes, although one is contentious, however the film isn't marred of defined by either of them. With Robert De Niro as the perpetrator though you wouldn't expect it to be overly gratuitous.

Those types of movies don't bother me either, it's just movies that depict a rape scene.. I honestly don't think it's something that needs to be in films.

I believe 300 had a rape scene as well. Kinda disturbed me a bit, but it wasn't that long.

I know this is kind of reverse sexism, but it's refreshing to see these comments from a guy. =/

At any rate, I also find them disturbing. One specific instance that comes to mind is the rape of the Queen in 300. I like that movie, the guys are awesome, the action is great, etc and all of the things said about it. I saw the rape scene once when I first saw the movie. On subsequent viewings, I fast-forward through it.

There are other instances where a rape happens, such as in the first season of 24, but it's not viewed. The incident showed the caliber of the woman (who basically put herself in her daughter's place for the assault), and affected the show and relationships after it happened. It was relevant, the audience knew it happened, yet it wasn't on screen. The producers of the show may have done it this way because it was on network television, but I thought it was the right way to go.

I've not seen the remake but I expect its a watered down version of the original, and that was pretty bad however it was a good film

Clockwork Orange on the other hand I never made it through to the end of the film, a combination of being bored and the violent scenes I think

To hum about the vague rape scene, there was nothing vague about the scene in spit on your grave. and yeah it was logn and uncomfortable. I don' really classify it as two scenes as it was really the same scene and same rape.

Those types of movies don't bother me either, it's just movies that depict a rape scene.. I honestly don't think it's something that needs to be in films.

The thing about I spit on yoru grave though, is that without the long disturbing rape scene, it wouldn't be as good a movie, it needs to be there to show the paint she went though and to explain what she did to the people. Still they could probably have done it shorter and more vague and still showed what happened and why each of them was treated as he was.

im glad im not the only one that feels the same way. I was just reading the news about the reporter who got sexually assaulted in Egypt and no-one gives a f*ck..

What the f*ck is wrong with people these days? What is this world coming to?

What makes it worse is that nothing is done about it.. Check out the post of reddit about the reporter - they really don't give a f*ck.. wtf?

I am not overly disturbed by rape scenes, I mean they are not supposed to be easy to watch.

What the f*ck is wrong with people these days? What is this world coming to?

What is it with people who suddenly think the world is turning bad? The world has always been like this.

It's not a new thing it's just that we spent the whole of the 20th century in a state of near constant war and now the world just seems to be getting back to how it once was.

if you don't like it don't watch it then don't go saying something needs to be banned cause of personal taste.

Ok sorry I over-generalised.. Sheesh.. way to miss the point (Y)

What I'm trying to say is - what the hell is wrong with todays society that we sit idly by and do nothing.

I think that these entire scenes should be deleted but then they have the issue of getting the point across.

It is gut wrenching, un-entertaining, dark and pretty sadistic especially in regards to the house on the left which I actually caught around 4 weeks ago.

I have 2 daughters and using the house on the left as an example I got enraged by the whole rape story and infact discussed it with my wife who was watching it with me.

I would literally serve time for my daughters if anything like this happened to them!

When you watch an advert or a film with some food you enjoy it makes you want to eat it right?

It can't be doing rapists any good to have it portrayed on TV for them to watch when they feel like it!
