insurektion
IF your router supports PPoE you can ignoree the software completely (or if you have XP you can use that) but routers make everything fast

Sav
That's not a problem, generaly you can just ignore the software that came with it, I'm running ADSL for about 2 and a half year now and never use the software that came with the package. As a teacher in the computer networking field, I've done a lots a testing on a lots of plateform, sure sometime you have to tweak or install other software but there always another way then there way. Here's my setting (just to show you that you can do more then there way). I'm running right now on SympaticoHS ADSL and the line goes to the ADSL modem, after that it goes to my Clarkconnect server on the first ethernet card, on the second one it output to my switch were my Mandrake and RedHat box it's connect. My server push IP for my internal computer and the first ethernet card on it receive the ip from my ISP. If you've got further question feel free man to post any question, they're always nice people on Neowin.net to answer it. best regard, Savagearth :shifty:
whipper25
i have the same linksys router and i share 3 comps with my adsl connection and it works flawlessly modem->router->PC 1-3 you won't need the software that your isp provides..that linksys router supports ppoe..so just follow the router instructions and you'll be on your way... the router will do all the 'dialing'..so when you turn on your comp, you'll automatically be online..no need for other software to dial up with :)

username
you can just share the printer over the network, though the computer is connected to has to be on for it to be shared by everyone, no need for a new router
Steven
Don't replace the whole router, just get a print server box. The linksys BEFSR41 is one of the better Cable/DSL Rotuers out there.
dths30
A major question! Is it Ethernet or USB?! I have USB and the ones I got in the package were not working on XP (:hmmm:) so I downloaded these: http://www.libellules.ch/alcatel.php
