March 2011 Desktops

Recommended Posts

Alright so here is my beautiful desktop.

The wallpaper is attatched to this post, so if you like it you can download it.

The widget in the center is called HTC HOME, you can download it by clicking here.

The theme is Windows 7 Defualt, changed to light gray transparency all the way up for a glass effect.

I also edited my registry to remove the shortcut arrow images that lay on shortcut icons on the desktop. There is a tutorial for that found here.

So yeah, there is what I am working with right now. I usually change the wallpaper for the seasons, actually I just changed the wallpaper last night.

That, and the look of it. I'm fairly new to Windows 7, so is that some kind of skin?

1. Start by creating an empty folder called NEO in Documents.

2. Right click on the Taskbar and unlock the Taskbar.

3. Right click again, go to Toolbars > New toolbar.

4. Select the NEO folder you created a second ago and click on Select Folder.

You'll see that the NEO folder is now on the taskbar.

5. Right click the slider next to the new toolbar and uncheck Show title.

6. Click and drag the same slider as far left as possible.

7. The slider next to the Start Orb, click and drag to the right, until the pinned icons are just offset the the right.

8. Right click the taskbar and lock the taskbar.

NOTE: The icons will jump to the left slightly after locking so make sure that you offset them a bit to the right

NOTE: I take no credit for this, just passing information

Ah, it never occurred to me that it might be a toolbar moved to the middle. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks. Now I'm just wondering about the look of the taskbar...

I thought it would be nice to have them centered, but its horrid at least in my eyes.. I have a decent amount of icons and it doesnt flow right.

Just a quick one - grabbed Wave and it totally screwed up my basic Win 7 system - explorer dying every 2 mins.

You might try a system restore from an earlier date.
