illusive
Will this bypass my router's firewall? dsl modem to hub hub to my computer hub to my router's wan my router to dads comp my router to moms comp Is there anyway i can use my computer to host games (neverwinter night). CubanPete
In theory that will bypass the routers firewall, but Bit unsure about the wan port on the router being ethernet compatable and vice-versa with the modem. if you connect the hub to the routers wan you will probably have trouble accessing you mom and dads machines and they will prob have trouble accessing the internet via the modem, unless all the settings are correct int he router. An easier option for you may be to just disable the firewall on the router, and keep your current configuration.

Steven
hm, how exactly do i disable/port forward on a linksys router? i tried dmz settings but it didnt work. Read the manual. Seriously http://192.168.1.1 the default password is "admin" which has blank username, then go to Advanced, then Port Forwarding. Add the Port Forwarding Rules there for the game(s) you wish to play or host. Finally make sure your router firmware is updated for optimal performance. +BudMan MVC Posted September 3, 2003 MVC Share Posted September 3, 2003 Did you open them for UDP? From a quick read of on the firewall faq on http://nwn.bioware.com/support/techfaq.html#03 I would guess that you did NOT forward port(s) correctly - From the quick read of the faq, looks like you should only have to OPEN 1 port inbound for people to connect to your server - and that would be the port your running your server on. Defaults to 5121? Once they have made a connection to your server - the server talking back to them would be open anyway. So really you should only have to forward 1 inbound UDP, whatever your server is running on.
illusive
"If you are trying to play through a firewall of some sort, here is some information for you to help you get connected. Neverwinter Nights uses UDP, not TCP for its connections. If you think that your firewall is preventing you from connecting to the game servers, please make sure that the following ports are open: Ports 5120 through 5300 Port 6500 Port 27900 Port 28900" Well I opened all those ports UDP. "In addition to opening the ports listed above, you may need to allow incoming connections on the port you are running your server on (5121 by default) and forward those connections to the computer running the server." That part I do not understand. Isn't 5121 covered by the 5120 through 5300 range? So shouldnt that port be opened already?
