probably many of you are using DropBox as a backup of their important files.
As a student, I also use it all the time: when I work on something at school, I uploaded it using the DropBox.com and when I came home, I could easilly download it from the web again and work on it.
But honestly, that is a bit of work; certainly if you know that I had to upload multiple files (10+ files, some small cpp files etc or word documents) and when I came home, I had to download them all from the web again.
So I searched for a better solution (no way I was going to quit DropBox and start using my USB pendrive again, my 16 gb and 32gb pendrives both got stolen already  )
thus after some searching on some blogs, I came across some portable version of DropBox.
I installed them on the network hard drive at school (everybody got their own piece they can use) and tried that out: that worked!
But it took ages to download all my files (I currently have around 18GB in my DropBox, most documents and psd files nvm) because the portable version was 0.7 of DropBox and thus without selective sync (choose what folders you like to sync).
So I searched the whole internet (well, almost  ) but couldn't find anything were I didn't had to install something.. no success.
But than I found a thread at the DropBox forums that was created just one day ago: a new DropBox Portable! :woot:
Try it out yourself, simply download the software from the site and run it on for example an USB key. You don't need any admin rights (perfect for school computers for example) and the software itself updates when there is an available update (you can also choose not to update of course).
I have been mailing with the author of this wonderful piece of software (yes, I really admire his work!) and he is planning on updating the software often in the future.
For more information about this free software, it's good to go to his website and give this a try
