Person Calls 911

Recommended Posts

Avon police answer hundreds of emergency calls daily from citizens but dispatcher Deni Stempowski says a call from a McDonald's is super sized silliness.

The McDonald's is at Route 611 in Avon.

The caller is customer Lula Brown, who asked for barbecue sauce with her order.

"I spent almost $10 on food and I wanted some sauce," Brown says. "I was told I would have to pay extra for sauce. It's not a store policy. It's not in writing and I don't feel I should pay extra for any sauce unless it is store policy and they show it to me."

As ridiculous as it might seem, Avon police did respond, they sent an officer in a patrol car to help solve this condiment caper.

Brown was disappointed that police could not solve her problem.

Non-emergency calls to 9-1-1 can cost you.

Brown was not charged but pranks and unnecessary calls can be considered a crime.

Stempowski says Brown and others who call 9-1-1 without an emergency can cause far greater problems.

"We have one line coming in here for 9-1-1," Stempowski says. "Someone else dialing 9-1-1 who has a real emergency now cannot get through."

The Avon McDonald's still offers a wide assortment of condiments for free. After this episode though, the cost of extra sauce is clearly posted.

OMG, McDonalds sure gots some "moronic" costomers, I mean they can just go to next door to that KFC or Wendy's or something.

I think 'moronic' is the word you are looking for instead of unhappy.. who the hell would call emergency services over some goddamn sauce for your fries.

What an idiot she has to be.

if you buy 10.00 worth of food, and don't buy any Mcnuggets, they'll charge you for Sauce.

Did you know that?

I've just always accepted it as the way my Mcdonalds works around here.

lol, I hate when that happens (when you don't get any sauce), I normally ask for the sauce at the menu so they can charge me if they want to but half the time they don't even add it to the bag :(

They should have a little cooler at the window, so when you pull-up u can just grab the sauce yourself

We had free sauce dispensers in our local MickeyD some time ago, but when people started pouring 2liter of ketchup on their meals and filling jars with the sauces, they removed it. Now they charge for sauces.

some places do charge for sauce

the ones fully owned by the company rarely charge for sauce

but those owned by franchises tend to charge

could a mod edit the topic so its either "person calls" or "people call"
