PTechC
Hey everyone, What program would you guys recommend I use to do a large unzip job (a couple hundred .zip files)? Doing all of those puppies manually with WinZip would be a ROYAL pain in the butt! I used to use pkunzip.exe (the DOS version) back in the day, but the problem with that is that it's not Long File Name compatible, and most zips nowadays use LFN's within them. So, I need a recommendation as to what program or utility I can use to do the same in XP. If it can do other compression-file types (such as .rar, .ace, etc), that would be very cool! Thanks in advance! :)
baphomet_irl Veteran Posted January 5, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 5, 2002 i think if u get WinRAR, open a zip file in it - then go back up in the folder thing (so ur now in the folder with all the zips in it) select all of them and then go to 'extract to' - it'll do it - thats how i open multiple rar's anyway - so it should work with zips :)
PTechC
WEWT! It worked! Thanks so much baph. I just didn't make the correlation between the Explorer-like interface of WinRAR and the potential it had to extract multiple files. When you think about it, it makes sense too, since you usually end up with multiple .r0x (.rar multiple) files, the only difference is that these .zips aren't related. But it works, so that's all that matters. Now to see if we can get WinZip with the same functionality  . Thanks again! :) PS: Hopefully this helps others in this forum as well, since it's such a HUGE timesaver.
