NewsGroups

Recommended Posts

I was thinking that alot of people don't know how to use newsgroups (me) and was wondering if someone could give a step by step, or point me to a tutorial. I already "GOOGELED IT" so I am looking for more help. Oh yes i don't know if this has anything to do with it but my isp is charter.

* i dont use newsgroups myself as im on a slow connection*

But on the newsgroup it should have a FAQ or a forum with how to use their listings. :)

If not sorry im not alot of help on this section but not used to IRC and NEWSGROUP listings.

What are you looking for specifically? How to set up newsreaders in general to read? How to read your ISP's newsgroups (as in what server they are, how you log in, etc.)? How to download files from newsgroups? What newsreaders are there?

I'm just asking because each one of those things is very different in terms of the information, and I find it unlikely that 1 guide will explain it all... If you can help to narrow the information you are wanting, you might be able to get some more help...

sorry i would like to know A.) a free server to connect to, and B.) how to download stuff from it

Your cable/dsl or ISP should have their own newsgroups to setup, you should have access to it, contact your ISP.

http://www.shemes.com/grabit (Multipart Newsreader)

also there is Forte Agent.

You will definitely want to use your ISP's. With free newsservers often you get what you pay for - which isn't much of anything. You will have to get on your ISP's homepage and do a search for their settings.
