XP System Error

Recommended Posts

I was searching for anwser and stumbled upon this page....thought maybe someone could help me out :)

Well my question is after i gte xp going and after a couple of restarts i get this error.....

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows XP Setup using the original Setup floppy disk or CD-Rom.

Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

I have heard people have had similar problems....anyone no how to fix this?

Thanks A Lot, Cheers, S2000_77

I got this problem when I my ram was fudged. XP kept BSODing, then finally gave that problem. Dunno if yours is different or not. I also had it YEARS ago when I had a Junky virus.

PS. I am drunk (but what I said is all still completely correct and true)

FIRST:

Is your copy of XP yours or is it "borrowed"?

The reason I ask is simple: Copied (borrowed) Windows XP CDs tend to corrupt a file in the installation files within the CD. It is an anti-piracy feature. Trust me. XP can only be "backed up" with Clone CD. Nothing else.

SECOND:

Format the HD. Re-install XP
