ChrisE
Hey, I just got my new Dell Dimension Desktop. It came with Windows XP Home. I am having trouble with my wireless network. I am getting bad lag spikes. I have run the command ping yahoo.com -t and noticed that my ping will be around 32ms and then it will jump up to about 3000ms. I did this same test on my laptop which has Windows 98 se and I got a consistent ping of about 30ms. The network I am using is a Wireless Network. The router is a Netgear MR314 and the USB adapters on the computers are Netgear MA101. I noticed that if I go into services and stop and disable Wireless Zero Config, the problem with the ping goes away. But with Wireless Zero Config disabled the computer wont connect to the network when the computer is restarted. I am running the latest drivers from Netgear. I just cannot figure out what the problem is. Can someone please help me? Thank you, Chris
Frank
Do you have any 2.4 GHz phones or equipment running? When you say "with the Wireless Zero Config disabled" does that mean you are using the built in Windows XP wireless support?
John Veteran Posted September 7, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 7, 2003 wireless zero config is a service in xp. try contacting netgear or dell and ask them about it.
ChrisE
There are no 2.4ghz phones in the area. Netgear was no help. I called them yesterday and the guy never gave me any kind of an answer.
