kryptonik
Well, she still makes money...that has to mean something. ;)
poind
Doesn't write her own songs, and last I checked still couldn't play an instrument on her own. "Broke ground" in the 80s by having few qualms about outright using sexuality to get attention, which was not the norm at the time. Has a decent business sense, I guess, when it comes to making a buck, deciding who's allowed to work for her, etc. (though maybe that's just her management). Don't take her as having any long-term musical significance, nor would I really give her personally true credit for any "hits" she's had.
forster
She's been going for years now, people are buying her tracks by the bucket load. One of the main selling points is that she never sticks to just one style of music, she always (and i hate this term) 'reinvents herself' every few years and goes in a new direction. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I really dont like her very much either. She has done some cool tracks, but I dont like the way that she conducts herself. My problems are more with 'her' than her music. She's definately a smart woman, and a rich one. I just hope that she bows out before she gets much older, and leaves the public eye - or else she'll look more and more like an old fogie with 'er zimmer. cocklea
i loved madonna. She rocks. Its better than listening to a girl thinking that we are her masters and she is the slave.
Fotix
Dude - were you around in the 80's? She was a pop tart that no one had seen before, lip syncing and and causing a stir. She set the table for Britne, and Aguilera.Note that like many artists, she did not write her early stuff "Borderline" written by Reggie Lucas "Physical Attraction" - written and produced by Reggie Lucas "Holiday" written by Curtis Hudson & Lisa Stevens She was a vehicle for sex back then, and then when she made money, she formed her own label, and now owns her music, and is still a vehicle for sex. She, if anything, is probably the greatest business woman in the history of the world. I liked her 80s look, that was hot (Blonde Ambition - ooooo) but then the whole "Poppa Dont Preach" era turned me off - acid wash denim, and homoerotic crap. I saw her at Moby's "The Church" rave in LA in 1994, and she really did have a presence. anyway- shes old and tired now. Plus all you guys saying she is a bad singer . . . well thats so subjective. Singers that I like, my wife loathes. That does not mean they are bad singers. If you want to rate pop princesses you need to set up an objective test: what is their octave range? Can they sing live every night? Can they sing a capella? Things like that, but jsut blurting out "She Sucks" is retarted. Yeah I've been around more than couple decades. Like I said, I can listen to certain tracks of "hers"--they're more palettable. I can't name a single neo pop star that I can--that's why she's better than them. I'm just judging her by what my ears are telling me.
