When you are on the road....what kind of connection do you run? We run a VPN at work, and it works VERY well (considering we have a new 7MB DSL line that I am very proud of), but if users dial in on the road, it is very slow because of the limited speed on a dialup connection. It isn?t very hard to set up, but it will take a lot of bandwidth, and a lot of the High Speed companies will not like you running a VPN out of your house, and may even shut you off.....but they should give you a warning first.

I would be using dial-up or hi-speed depending on where I'm at. It will do what I'm wanting right? I can travel and I will be able to access my mp3's or anything I have on my home computers

Does your ISP allow you to use a static IP, or do you have to use DHCP on your home broadband connection? If you are using DHCP you will probably need to register at a place like this so you don?t have to mess with the changing of IP's.

You will be able to access your files just like you were at home, but over dial up, it will be VERY VERY slow. It would take you quite a long time to download a MP3. Over a broadband connection it is much faster.
