Verizon DSL on XP Pro?

Recommended Posts

Hey I read that the min. reqs for DSL on Verizon were:

Operating Systems

Windows 95 (except 95A)

Windows 98 and 98 SE

Windows Millennium

Windows 2000 (Professional Only)

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation with Service Pack 5 or 6 (128 bit encryption)

Windows XP Home ( Only )

So does this mean that it's not possible to use Verizon's DSL service on XP Pro? Is there a way to work around this?

Come on now. Home and pro are almost alike. That just means they didnt test it on pro (yet). Sure it will work :p only thing that might not work is your modem... Make sure you get a real one.

Yea, same as what DamN said, there shouldn't be any problems using it with XP Pro. It was probably written by some jerkoff at Verizon who doesnt know sh**.

It's worked just fine for me with an external modem.

I figured it would work on Pro, but my friend is having trouble installing it onto his computer which he just migrated to XP yestereday. He says some adapter type or something to that matter is missing from XP which was present in 98.

Since I don't currently use DSL, I don't know how to help him. Can you tell me how you got your DSL service working under XP Pro?

Well, I know two people who used two different ways to get their verizon dsl working on pro...

One friend just did it right through xp's built-in connection wizard, simple and fast. Nothing special there.

Now if an adapter or something is missing...sounds more like a hardware/driver problem...
