Windows 7, Perfect Disk and boot file monitoring

Question

I use Perfect Disk for defraging but in XP it defauts to monitoring file for boot time defrag instead of windows. That seemed ok for Win XP, I never had a problem, but what about Windows 7. Should I let the OS do it or Perfect Disk. Here is a screen of the setting:

Thanks,

May i ask why you are using a 3rd party defrag tool instead of the default one?The default one will do the job just fine. 3rd party defrag tools for Vista/7 are IMHO worthless.

IMHO PerfectDisk has much more option then Windows 7 Defrag tool, I don't think it's worthless if you do lot of activity with coping and deleting.

And OP let PD manage layout.ini it works fine as it is.

Because you can prioritise your defrag according to drive usage... I.e. 1 Standard algo isnt the best for all and Windows defrag is enough for most users but not all...

Perfectdisk allows you to select an aggressive performance defrag that will place your most recently used files on the fastest tracks of the disk, with a lesser priority of preventing further disk fragmentation...

You could classify its usage as niche but useful for power users..

For the common masses, Windows defrag is fine and you seem to fit in that common mass group as opposed to those needing a fully optimised drive layout

do you have any proof that a 3rd party defrag or any defrag app will actually help to improve things?as you can tell i am very hesitant on implementing any defrag app as from what i have learned it don't help even though companies like Raxco claim this and that.i don't buy into hype.
