Cat travels more than 100 miles in 3 years

HARNOSAND, Sweden, May 12 (UPI) -- A Swedish woman whose cat disappeared three years ago said she was overjoyed to be reunited with the feline when it turned up about more than 100 miles away.

Camilla Hulkki of Stromsund said there was no sign of Lizzie the cat after she wandered off three years ago until Monday, when Stromsund received a call from an animal rescue center in Harnosand, more than 100 miles from her home, Swedish news agency TT and The Local reported Wednesday.

"They phoned and asked if we had a cat missing, and I looked over and saw that our current cat was indoors so of course I answered 'no.' But then they said that it had a chip in its ear that showed it was registered to us under the name Lizzie," Hulkki said.

Workers at the center said an elderly woman found the cat and brought her in when Lizzie did not get along with the woman's other pets.

"It is great to have her back, although a little strange because as soon as she returned she was acting like she always did, she found her way around as if she never left in the first place," Hulkki said.

She said Lizzie's whereabouts for most of the time she was missing remain a mystery and she does not know how the cat would have traveled so far from home. :iiam:
