Raistlin
I am having a problem with the above mentioned software starting today. I am not sure the exact flow of events that caused the problems, but here is what I have done and the outcome. I am running WinXP Home with all of the patches, I installed Microsoft Visual Basic 6, after rebooting I installed Service Pack 5. I put the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack into my system with the intent of ripping it, and Windows Media Player could not obtain the track names because it said I must be connected to the Internet (I have a cable modem). I thought it was odd, but since LOTR soundtrack is an enhanced CD i thought it would related to that. I noticed that McAfee antivirus had a new DAT file and scanner update, so using the 'live update' feature, I updated and rebooted. So a few hours went by, and I decided to go though my CD collection and start ripping my LEd Zeppelin collection. WHen Media PLayer comes up I get the same problem retrieving the track names. Also I tried running the utility to check for media player updates, I get the same error. When I try to go to the media guide, same thing. In Macafee antivirus, it is unable to see the update server. HOwever, I have full interet access in everything from Windows Update (which comes up with nothing by the way), from the browser window now I am entering this message in, from checking email, newsgroups and regular browsing, so I am not sure what is wrong. And before I forget, StylesXP expired today, so I uninstalled it for now. I am not sure if it is related or not. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Raist

Raistlin
I tried disabling McAfee as you recommended, and it didn't work. Thanks for the advice though.
