help - shutdown problems

Recommended Posts

for some reason my computer started to restart instead of shutdown everytime i choose to "shutdown"

i am using win98se - and the only think i have changed since it last worked fine is an update for norton antivirus.

i have norton antivirus 5 and the update was a few megs - probably more then just new definition - but the old liveupdate did not show what exactly did it download or install...

its annoying - i have to switch off pc before the windows restarts..

any ideas please

Yes there is.

Just download the patch double click on the patch and it should install, then your shutdown problem is gone.

Oh yeah it ask for a restart :right: .

:ermm:

yeah i get it !

to install a patch i should download it and then run it.

and how could i possibly run it ?!?

by doubleclicking :ponder: :ponder: !!

and for it to work i have to restart - though pressing shutdown will be fine as well, since the patch is not working until i restart and since i have not restarted yet, shutdown will restart my machine, no?

:p :cheeky: :Dsorry could not help being a little bit sarcastic on this matter, especially after reading nathan_151's post :p :cheeky: :D

Sorry I have a different method, mine one was from a magazine CD, but just run Windows Update and it should install by itself and yes definitely if you were ask to restart just click on Yes.
