Changing Stereo on Peugeot 206cc

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

So have Peugeot 206cc - Had it 2 years and just now am looking at changing the stereo.

It has the default/original one in it -

-

I got this Pioneer one on a special deal recently

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DEH-3300UB-Receiver-Direct-Control/dp/B004BLJXLQ

-

So today I took the Stereo out, then I got a bit confused how to connect/what to do next.

The original Peugeot one - Has an ANTENNA lead connected to it and it has 3 other different cables attached to it.

I can take them all out, no problem.

-

The back of the Pioneer one, has an ANTENNA socket, but it's like "empty" - so I can't plug the normal car antenna attachement into it - what do I do there?

Secondly, the back of the Pioneer has a slot and in the packaging I got an adaptor that goes into that slot and then allows me to attach the black/white cable from car into that one but then that leaves on cable from the Peugeot just dangling/not connected

-

Can anyone guide me on what to do here? How to proceed? Would be much appreciated

Would it be possible to take a picture of the connectors in the car and the back of the pioneer? So we could get a clearer image of what we're dealing with? From my experience there are a lot of different connectors and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, so to give a good advice I'd have to see the actual connectors. :)

Sure thing, I need all the help I can get - got so confused yesterday

-

I got pics of the Pioneer - the new one I got which I want to put in

The back looks like this - http://www.extremeaudio.de/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/500x500/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/d/e/deh3300ub_rear_gallery.jpg

In bottom left is the ANTENNA hole - now that hole is like empty...and from the car, the antenna connection doesn't fit in there

Then in the middle you have the main power socket

With the Pioneer I got this cable/adaptor too

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51ZcYsUQ-2L.jpg

So the BLACK attachment in that pic goes into that middle area and then on the other side the attachments from the car fit in but then there is an extra one that is just hanging as there is no space to plug that into the Pioneer

-

I looked on some forums and someone mentioned this -

Any head unit will fit in, it's just you will need a iso block to convert from

Kenwood, pioneer, Sony ect to Peugeot

-

Make any sense?

Can't find pics of the back of Peugot 206cc radio but it is the default one that comes with it - old school

You need a wiring harness that converts STOCK to Aftermarket.

So the adapter you got would connect to your Deck (pioneer stereo) and then you need to get a harness that connects from your cars factory harness that spits out wires also. Then you match the wire from the adapter with the pioneer to the wiring harness you got, and done.

Basically using this http://www.peugeotlogic.com/workshop/wshtml/electric/radio/conector/conec1.htm

you should be able to connect the wires from your wiring harness that connects to your factory harness in your car, to the harness that came with your pioneer radio.

For the antenna, you'll need to get an adapter that connects your factory antenna into the pioneer.

Adding aftermarket radio's is fun once you get over all this wiring bull**** lol. They are usually never "plug and play".

Thanks so much Sikh for this info

I understand connecting the adaptor to the deck which I got in the box ... then you say the harness that connects from cars factory harness -

The link you attached, I don't understand what I'm supposed to buy/look for in shop - is there a pic?

So your saying I need to find something that acts in the middle between the PIONEER and the CAR FACTORY HARNESS - so something in the middle to connect the two together

What does an antenna adaptor look like?

Thanks so much!

I think you need something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-206-CD-RADIO-STEREO-ISO-WIRING-HARNESS-ADAPTOR-/150487824730?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item2309c5f95a#ht_2629wt_1141 - that handles the electrics connections.

As for the antenna, my 2006 Citroen uses a Fakra connector so I guess the Peugeot will be the same (Same company, almost the same cars underneath). That pioneer looks like it has a ISO connector for the antenna, so you also need a Fakra to ISO lead too: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fakra-ISO-Car-Stereo-Aerial-Adaptor-25cm-extension-/220667828942?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item3360d3dace#ht_2614wt_1141 Do first check your pioneers antenna is ISO, as there is also a DIN style of antenna connector - so if its that you need Fakra to DIN.

According to the image you've provided, the Pioneer comes equipped with a DIN connector, which looks like this:

Just so you know. :)
