7-Zip is a open source file archiver with a high compression ratio. The program supports 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP, WIM, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR, Z. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions. Check license information here: 7-Zip license.

You can use 7-Zip on any computer, including a computer in a commercial organization. You don't need to register or pay for 7-Zip.

Fixed bugs in 7-Zip 9.38 Beta:

  • There are some changes in source code for better compatibility with GCC compiler.
  • The BUG in 9.26-9.36 was fixed:
  • Some code in CPP\7zip\Archive\7z\ worked correctly only under Windows.
  • The BUG in 9.31-9.36 was fixed:
  • 7-Zip didn't use new code that allows to read file pathnames from 7z archive faster.
  • The bugs were fixed in tar and nsis code.
  • Minor change in LZMA decoding source code.
