Acer Swift X 2022 could be historic as it reportedly packs the first Intel Arc discrete GPU

Acer's Swift X 2022 model (image below) is reportedly going to be the first PC in the world to feature Intel's Arc discrete GPU solution according to a report from fellow outlet VideoCardz. The site says it received pictures of the upcoming laptop which will be shown off at CES 2022 later. If the information is accurate, then the Swift X 2022 model could be a historic device as it will feature Intel's first true discrete gaming graphics in the sense that Intel Xe HPG architecture (inside first-gen Arc Alchemist) was designed from the ground up with this thing in mind.

Interestingly, Acer was also one of the first manufacturers to incorporate Intel's Iris Xe MAX discrete graphics with the Swift 3x. However, unlike Arc, Xe MAX graphics was built on Xe LP architecture and wasn't truly designed for high-performance gaming.

Current Swift X models come with generally low-end mobile GPUs like the RTX 3050 Ti 40W GPU, and so VideoCardz speculates that the upcoming 2022 Intel Arc model may also feature something like a 96EU or a 128EU Arc Alchemist discrete card.

In terms of CPU, the Arc graphics card inside the Swift X might be paired up with an Intel Alder Lake-P mobile CPU or a Ryzen 6000 series Rembrandt mobile APU. However, older gen processors may also be used if Acer wants to get these out fast.
