AdDuplex released its monthly Windows 10 usage report today, which is based on data collected from apps that run AdDuplex SDK v.2 or higher on the date of July 25. This month's report focuses on the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, which was released a month ago.
Last month, the April 2018 Update was installed on 78.1% of Windows 10 PCs. Obviously, it's time for that growth to slow down a bit, since we're reaching maximum capacity. The Fall Creators Update, or version 1709, dropped from 15.7% to 10.3%, the Creators Update (version 1703) dropped from 2.4% to 2.1%, and Anniversary Update (version 1607) dropped from 2.5% to 2.2%, and version 1511 dropped from 0.8% to 0.6%. The orginal version, 1507, remains stagnant at 0.4%, and Insiders dropped a bit from 0.3% to 0.2%.
With Redstone 5 development finalizing and a release candidate likely arriving in September, we're likely to see a spike in Insiders soon.
Here, we can see that the Windows 10 April 2018 Update grew in usage faster than any previous update. This is mainly because instead of asking users to use Update Assistant to force their machine to upgrade, Microsoft forced it on anyone that hit Check for updates in Settings.
AdDuplex once again provided Surface usage numbers, where Surface Pro 4 is still on top, followed by the Surface Pro 3. Since the last time these numbers were offered, in April, the new Surface Pro has grown by 4.7%. Microsoft will be releasing the Surface Go next week, so we'll likely see that on this chart soon enough.
