Amazon launches Windows and Mac cloud desktop apps

In the past couple of weeks we have seen a ton of news from various cloud file storage services. Now you can add Amazon to that list. The company revealed today that it has has launched desktop apps for its own cloud file service for both Windows and Mac PC platforms. The desktop apps support Windows Vista and Windows 7 (sorry, Windows XP owners) along with Mac OS 10.6 and 10.7 PCs.

While Amazon has had its cloud service online for some time, users could only access its via a web browser or a smartphone app before today. These new desktop apps allow users to upload up to 5 GB of videos, photos and documents for free.

Microsoft launched its own desktop app for its SkyDrive service last week and Google Drive also has a PC desktop app for its recently launched Google Drive service. Earlier this week, LG launched its LG Cloud service with its own Windows desktop client.
