The mad rush of cyber attacks that started a few months ago seem to be continuing and the latest reported victim could be a company that has prided itself on its security. Venture Beat reports that the hacker group Anonymous has claimed it has taken a small number of user names and passwords from a Apple web server. Overall, just 27 user accounts were exposed due to the attack. Anonymous posted up the info on a Pastebin web page.
While exposing just 27 accounts is still troubling, its also still a very low amount compared to attacks Anonymous and other hacker groups like LulzSec have taken over the past few month in the many hacker attacks on various businesses and government web sites. In a message on its Twitter page, Anonymous hinted that it may make further attacks on Apple but added, " ... don’t worry, we are busy elsewhere."
The article points out that before it shut down its hacker campaign, LulzSec claims that it hacked into the servers of Apple's upcoming iCloud streaming music and file storage service. However, it never actually proved that the hack attack took place.
Last month a hacker pled guilty in a case that involved Apple's iPad device. The hacker admitted to breaking into the servers of AT&T in 2010 and taking the email addresses of over 114,000 iPad users. The hacker is currently awaiting sentencing which might include up 18 months in jail thanks to a deal made for his guilty plea.
