An Apple employee walks into a bar; stop me if you've heard this one. After the embarrassing loss of the iPhone 4 prototype last year in a California bar, another Apple employee has managed to lose another iPhone 5 prototype.
As CNet reports, the Apple employee lost the iPhone 5 prototype device at Cava22, a bar in San Francisco, and may have been sold on Craigslist for $200. Apple electronically traced the device down to home in San Francisco, but as police and Apple investigators met with home owner, a search of his house turned up nothing. The man confirms he was at Cava22 the night the prototype device went missing, but admits he never saw the device.
It's not uncommon for Apple to give employees prototype devices to field test, as there has been numerous reports of people spotting what they believe to be an unreleased Apple device. 9to5mac.com posted a suspected image of the iPhone 5 prototype device on a train in San Francisco.
Apple declined to comment on the missing prototype device, but did mention to the local authorities that the device was "priceless". It's unknown if Apple has retrieved the device, or if any of the rumoured images floating around the Internet are in fact real.
The iPhone 5 is rumoured to be releasing this October, but Apple hasn't confirmed any details of the iPhone 5 yet.
