Six months ago, Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, its first water-resistant smartphones. At the time, Apple CEO Tim Cook predictably referred to the new devices as the best handsets the company has ever created, and said that they had a "gorgeous new design".
Today, the company is adding to its range with a striking new red option for the two handsets, paired with a white front on each device. The new color is the latest device to emerge from Apple's long-standing partnership with the (RED) alliance that raises funds to help combat the spread and effects of HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today’s lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.
Apple is the largest donor to (RED)'s Global Fund, having contributed over $130 million through sales of its products, according to (RED) CEO Deborah Dugan.
The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be available with either 128GB or 256GB of storage, with prices starting from $749 USD. The new models are technically identical to the versions that it unveiled last year, and which remain on sale alongside the new (RED) editions.
Both models will be available from March 24, and will begin shipping by the end of March to customers in the US and over 40 other markets, with other countries to follow in April.
Other (PRODUCT)RED items in Apple's range include iPods, along with Beats Solo 3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, the Beats Pill+ Portable Speaker, the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case, and various accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
