Apple closed all of its stores outside of China in March in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. A month later, the company reopened its store in South Korea with a focus on support services. It was the first Apple store outside of China to resume operations following the worldwide COVID-19 closures.
Now, a new report from an Austrian news outlet claims the Cupertino-based tech giant plans to also open its shop in Vienna, Austria on May 5 (via Cult of Mac). It marks the first reopening of an Apple store in Europe as the company looks to provide support and services to customers after months of lockdown. The store is located on Kaerntner Street.
Health safety measures will reportedly be put in place when the store begins operations again on Tuesday. These include social distancing and adjusted opening hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Customers will also be required to wear face masks and have their temperature checked before they can enter the store, the report says. The number of people who will be allowed to enter at a time will be limited to observe proper distancing. Apple's head of retail and online teams, Deirdre O'Brien, also recently confirmed that more stores will reopen this month.
