We have seen tons of Internet rumors about Apple's upcoming, but still unannounced, television product over the last several months, including one which claims it will have full Siri integration. Now there's word that the "smart TV" is actually in production, at least on a small scale. WantChinaTimes.com reports via unnamed sources that Foxconn, who makes a number of hardware units for Apple, has been given the contract for the Apple TV product.
The story states that a Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, China is the specific location for the manufacturing of the Apple TV, but at the moment it's only being done on a trial basis.
This new rumor contradicts a report earlier this month where Foxconn denied earlier rumors that its CEO Terry Gou said the company was producing the Apple TV product.
The Apple TV, which first gain traction via a mention in the official biography of Apple's late co-founder Steve Jobs in 2011, has never been confirmed by the company. However, a recent statement from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster claims that Apple could announce the Apple TV product in December and launch it sometime early next year. The prices for these Apple TVs will be between $1,500 and $2,000, according to Munster, and will have screen sizes of between 42 inches and 55 inches.
