Apple Computer bought Logic's developer, Germany's eMagic, earlier this summer. Almost immediately, Apple said it would stop offering Logic -- one of the leading music-creation programs -- as well as other eMagic programs for Windows users, at the end of September.
Logic's PC users, who paid up to $949 for a "platinum" version of theproduct, are furious.
"Cutting off Logic Audio from PC customers is a huge slap to the face," wrote "Ricanseption," one of 2,000 people who have signed an online petition asking for Apple to stay its termination order.
Robin Storey, another signatory, added, "I loved Logic audio as a program and I am sickened by your lack of commitment to your customers."
Apple made a similar move earlier this year when it purchased Nothing Real, which makes the visual effects program Shake, then said it would discontinue the Windows version of the software.
