Aramiska opens UK broadband satellite kimono

Dutch-based Aramiska is the latest company to announce its pricing for broadband over satellite services.

Launching in the UK today, the company said its satellite-based broadband business packages for SMEs start at £99 per month. Up-front installation and set-up fees cost from around £500.

The outfit - backed by cash from venture capitalist Whitney & Co - has 20 users currently trialling the service.

It is also receiving 100 enquiries a week from businesses looking to embrace broadband and expects to attract 3,000 customers in its first year.

Aramiska's CEO, Philippe Bodart, is confident that the prices announced today will help dispel any ideas broadband satellite is too expensive for UK SMEs.

Said Mr Bodart: "We're introducing our new Aramiska service at an exceptionally competitive price, and for that we're offering a service that competes directly with terrestrial solutions both in terms of functionality, performance and pricing."
