As countries start opening up, Google now makes it even easier to plan the perfect trip

With countries removing travel restrictions by the day Google wants to make it easier than ever to plan your next trip. Google Flights and Google Travel are both getting improvements including cheap flight notifications across any date, more information about places you can drive to (instead of flying), and the ability to find hotels near a tourist attraction or a particular event.

With the improvements to Google Flights, you’ll be able to track prices for flights between two cities across all dates. Until now, this feature was only available for specific dates. Using this tool should significantly increase your chances of finding cheaper tickets if you can be flexible about what days to take the trip. When using this feature, Google will email you to let you know of cheaper prices if it finds them.

One of the hot issues today is climate change and as we all (should) know, flying is just about the worst type of transport you can take when it comes to carbon emissions. To give people an alternative of driving to their destination, Google Travel’s Explore tool will now allow you to filter locations that are nearby that can be driven to. To use this tool in Google Travel, just tap ‘Explore nearby’ which appears above the pink dot on the map. You’ll be show destinations on the map with the time it takes to drive there and how much a hotel costs.

Finally, Google Travel can now show you hotels near tourist destinations or custom addresses making it easier to find somewhere to stay if you’re going to an event out of town such as a wedding. To use the feature, enter the location in the hotel or vacation rental search bar and you’ll have the option to choose properties within a 15 to 30 minute trip by foot or car.
