ASUS ROG Phone II launches in India at a highly competitive price

About two months ago, ASUS announced the ROG Phone II, the second gaming smartphone to join the series after its original ROG Phone. The ROG Phone II hit the shelves across Indian retail stores today. Interestingly, the base model of the gaming device equipped with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is up for grabs at a very reasonable price of ₹37,999 - approximately $536. When compared to the launch price of the first ROG Phone, which retailed at $799 initially, ₹37,999 appears to be a heavily competitive price for the handset.

Meanwhile, the variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage space will set Indian customers back by ₹59,999 (~US$846). Next to recent smartphones with similar specs, the Samsung Galaxy Note10 series, for example, the reasonableness of this price becomes more evident. While these ASUS and Samsung phones have similar RAM and internal storage variants and the same processor, the Note10 with 8GB of RAM starts at $949.99, while the Note10+ with 12GB of RAM costs upwards of $1,099.99.

Powered by Qualcomm's brand new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor and the Adreno 640 GPU, the ROG Phone II provides great value for money. It sports a 120Hz 1080p AMOLED display measuring 6.59-inches wide. The phone has a whopping 6,000mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 4.0 and PD Charging. As for the OS, the gaming device runs Android 9 Pie out the box with the new ROG UI.

Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C support, gaming 'Air Trigger' buttons and dual 4G SIM slots. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and supports facial recognition. The ROG Phone II sports a 24MP front snapper coupled with a dual-camera setup on the back, with the main rear camera using the Sony IMX586 48MP image sensor and a 13MP 125° ultra-wide secondary camera.

A comprehensive and more detailed set of technical specifications concerning the ROG Phone II can be found on the official ASUS website. Those interested in purchasing the ROG Phone II in the Indian region can find further information regarding the price and purchase details on Flipkart.
