REPORT SAID that resellers in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) are failing to sell many Athlon 64 microprocessors. According to Channel Times, thats because the schemes AMD is offering arent attractive. It quotes one reseller as saying that while hes had a lot of interest in the Athlon 64, he hasnt sold on eyet because the price of the chips are too high.
AMD would need to drop prices of the processors to sell them in India, the reseller is quoted as saying. Another reseller claims margins are too high on the chip, but AMD India says that a scheme whereby people can bypass dealers and buy the chips direct is fair.
