ATI needs to fix its DVD driver problem

ATI has spent a lot of time telling us how good its DVD picture quality is, and it pushed this for all it was worth by hyping up the Radeon 8500.

But there's an albatross round ATI's neck, stemming from the time it introduced the Radeon, that is that the firm's drivers are not so good, which we don't necessarily agree with.

Most companies have problems with drivers but eventually fix them.

Nvidia's drivers do seem of better quality than ATI's but its high end 3D marketshare is more serious than the Canadian firm's.

ATI's problem with DVD is starting to become a real problem, however.

The firm's technical support told us that there is a problem but it's related to Power DVD 4.0, while everything is just fine and dandy with Power DVD 3.0 and Win DVD.
