Microsoft announced the August 2019 Games with Gold today and it’s touting a pretty major lineup. Xbox Live Gold members can grab four games for free next month as usual, with half of them being Xbox One and the other half being Xbox 360 games, which will also be part of the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program.
The August Games with Gold are being fattened up by the inclusion of two Microsoft first-party titles, them being Gears of War 4 and Forza Motorsport 6. See all of the games and the promotion dates below:
Gears of War 4 (Xbox One: August 1 - 31)
A new saga begins for one of the most acclaimed video game franchises in history. After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy.
Forza Motorsport 6 (Xbox One: August 16 - September 15)
Forza Motorsport 6 is the most beautiful and comprehensive racing game of this generation. Collect and race over 450 Forzavista cars, all with working cockpits and full damage. Master wet weather and night racing on your road to victory. Compete in epic 24-player races and Forza Race Leagues across 26 world-famous locales, all at a stunning 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second.
Torchlight (Xbox 360, Xbox One: August 1 - 15)
Torchlight is an action-roleplaying game developed by the creators of popular games Diablo and FATE. Players will choose from among three character classes, and venture from the safety of the town of Torchlight into randomly generated dungeon levels, with a huge variety of creepy monsters, endless variations of loot to find, and quests to complete. Randomized levels and an 'endless dungeon' unlocked after completing the main game ensure a long-lived gameplay experience.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (Xbox 360, Xbox One: August 16 - 31)
Left as a foundling at the gates of the Brotherhood of Light convent they named him Gabriel and raised him as their own. Over the years he developed an unprecedented mastery of the fighting arts. Prone to dark moods he was deeply affected by the death of his one true love, Marie. He has now embarked on a quest at the request of the Elders of the Brotherhood to discover why the World is in chaos and within him lies a burning desire for revenge on those who took his beloved.
Also interestingly, since Gears of War 4 is an Xbox Play Anywhere game available on both Xbox One and Windows 10, any PC players who are subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - which includes Xbox Live Gold - can also grab the game for their platform. However, the title will only be available as long as the subscription is continued.
There's still a single day left before a couple of the July Games with Gold promotions come to an end. Inside and Big Crown: Showdown for the Xbox One, as well as Meet the Robinsons for the Xbox 360 are still available.
