Bethesda shares Doom Eternal system requirements

id Software's latest venture into hell and heaven with the Doom Slayer is releasing in just ten days, and Bethesda today released the official Doom Eternal system requirements to prepare fans for their journey. Although a mess up on the Steam page originally showed some specifications, this is now the official release of the complete dossier.

The PC specifications are quite detailed, going through recommended, minimum, and a quite fitting "Ultra-Nightmare" section. See the full details below:

  • 50 GB hard drive space

Note: HDR is available on PC, hardware permitting

It certainly looks like a massive requirements jump compared to the original game at first. But, looking at the 1080p 60FPS at high settings portion, it's clear mid-range computers will allow players to rip through demons without worrying about any performance issues.

The developer added that some specifications present on the PC retail boxes of Doom Eternal are no longer accurate. Although the box will say otherwise, Windows 8.1 is no longer supported officially and AMD owners will have to use the old 19.1.1 driver to get the game running. All of the specification sections will have some outdated information too, so it's better to check the online data.

As for consoles, the Xbox One X will upscale the game from 1800p to 4K (2160p) while the PlayStation 4 Pro will upscale from 1440p to 4K. The base Xbox One and One S will run the title at 900p and upscale to 1080p, but the base PlayStation 4 will be running natively at 1080p. Google Stadia is getting a release too, which will offer 1080p for HD displays and 1800p upscaled on 4K displays. All of these systems will be running at 60FPS.

Doom Eternal is slated to launch on March 20 across all the aforementioned platforms - with a Switch version coming later. There's still time to pre-order the game and get a free copy of Doom 64 as well.
