Bing brings social search features to the iPad

Earlier this year, Apple launched Safari 6 for users of OS X. However, the company also decided to kill any further support for Safari on Windows but that is not keeping Microsoft from adding some new features for users of Safari on the iPad.

The official Bing blog has announced that the new design for the Bing Social sidebar features that launched earlier this week can now be accessed by Safari for the iPad and iPad mini. Microsoft said:

Whether you’re planning your night out or trying to decide where to vacation next, the sidebar now shows you upfront what friends and experts have shared—making it easier for iPad users to get stuff done.

The social sidebar will change its layout depending on if the iPad is in either landscape or portrait mode. The new additions will be rolled out over the next few days.

Microsoft has been quite busy on the Bing front lately. Earlier this week, it launched a new build of its Bing Desktop software program that added support for more versions of Windows, among other new features. Microsoft also put in some new information in its middle "snapshot" search results that give more direct information about certain people and places similar to what Google offers with its Knowledge Graph.
