Bioware bizarrely promotes Anthem through crop circles in new video

The latest promotional video for the Bioware-developed title Anthem, shows an Exosuit carved into a field of corn. The maze-like carving was sponsored by the developer, and is part of the Edmonton Corn Maze, an event that is open to the public from August through October each year. As you may remember, the game was shown off at this year's Xbox E3 conference, and promises to be a very intriguing experience based on the footage revealed.

According to the developer, it wanted to celebrate the development of the game by carving the promotional material into the corn field since it represents the game 'growing'; and apparently, according to the studio, 'corn also grows'. Although this might be obvious to anyone, it is a rather strange way to put it.

Bioware then decided to make a video displaying the 50-foot Exosuit carving, because not everyone would be able to wander about the maze. Not to mention the fact that people in the maze wouldn't be able to see the creation in all its glory. The corn maze, however, has no relation to the game and its content.

Anthem is scheduled to be released in 2018, and will feature four-player co-op as well as, according to the developer, a deep and involved storyline. Recently, the writer for the first two Mass Effect games - arguably the best in the series - joined the Anthem team as well, which is a positive sign for those who want a great story in their games.

Earlier this year Mass Effect: Andromeda launched to muted reception, and the studio has since then cut back on the development team responsible for the game. Some reports have suggested that EA and Bioware have canceled all future story DLC, but these reports have yet to be verified.
