BlackBerry is currently in the middle of a transition that will eventually turn it back into a private company, if all goes according to plan. However, the development team at the smartphone company is still working on some concepts for the future, and several of them were shown this week at the BlackBerry Jam Asia event.
One of those concepts is something that might please BlackBerry 10 smartphone owners who also have a Windows notebook or desktop. As shown in a video posted on YouTube, the BlackBerry team have created a way to project the user interface of a BlackBerry Z10 onto a Windows 7 desktop. This will allow people to catch messages sent on the BBM network on a Windows PC, and then reply by using the desktop app.
The Windows app can even send photo attachments taken from the PC's hard drive onto the BBM app to be sent on the network. The presentation hinted that this will be made to work on Mac computers as well. Unfortunately, this still just a software concept project and no release date was mentioned.
BlackBerry was supposed to expand its BBM service to iOS and Android platforms last weekend, but an early release of the Android app caused problems and BlackBerry made the decision to postpone the full launch.
