CastleStorm to launch in April for Xbox 360 and Windows 8

In May, developer Zen Studios announced plans to release CastleStorm, a combination of a tower defense title and a real time strategy game. It is certainly a departure from the company's Zen Pinball games, which will soon include Star Wars Pinball tables.

CastleStorm was supposed to be released by the end of 2012 but since the first reveal, Zen Studios has been quiet about the game's progress. This week, Joystiq is reporting that CastleStore is still very much alive and is due for release in April. It is also apparently a Microsoft platform exclusive for now; the game will be coming out for Windows 8 and the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade.

The game has players defending their castle against enemies with various defenses as well as deploying units such as swordsmen, knights, axe throwers and more. The game also allows players to design and build their own castle to make sure their walls and defenses are the best they can be.

CastleStorm will also have some multiplayer and co-op modes but there's no word on what they will be like. Hopefully there will be some cross-platform multiplayer between the Windows 8 and Xbox 360 versions. There's also no word yet on the pricing for the game.
