Chinese regulators have asked Microsoft to provide an explanation for "major issues" uncovered as part of an antitrust investigation.
As Reuters reports, China's State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC) did not specify the exact nature of its concerns, but said that the aforementioned issues had emerged from digital data examined as part of its investigation.
The investigation is believed to be the same one that began in July 2014, when Microsoft offices in several Chinese cities were raided. In a media briefing a month later, SAIC alleged that Microsoft had not been "fully transparent" regarding the disclosure of data on its sales in China.
SAIC said today that Microsoft must submit a 'complete explanation' for the issues that have come to light. A Microsoft spokesperson told Reuters: "We're serious about complying with China's laws and committed to addressing SAIC's questions and concerns."
