Comcast is shutting down its Xfinity app for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in two weeks

Comcast has announced that it is withdrawing its Xfinity app for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, with notifications informing users of the imminent shutdown having been sent out over the weekend. Xfinity launched on the Xbox 360 in early 2012, bringing access to Comcast's cable TV platform for its subscribers.

However, as Windows Central reports, Microsoft has sent messages to Xfinity users in recent days, letting them know that the app will be withdrawn from the Xbox 360, and removed from their consoles, on September 1, 2015.

Comcast hasn't fully explained its decision to withdraw the app, only offering this cryptic response to a request for further information: "We are removing this to make way for new updates and improvements to our online experience for customers."

We'll have to wait and see exactly what that means - but for now, if you're an Xbox 360 owner who enjoys using the Xfinity app on your console, you've got two weeks to make the most of it.
