The weekly giveaways of the Humble Store continue, as it is now giving away free copies of Relic Entertainment's real-time strategy title, Company of Heroes 2. The game is set in World War II and features both a single-player campaign and a popular multiplayer portion.
Released back in 2013, the game still receives regular updates by the developer, and is home a to a rather active modding community, giving access to a whole range of custom maps, game modes, and more.
The game's single-player campaign is described on the store page as follows:
Step into the boots of a Soviet commander of the Red Army, entrenched in brutal frontline warfare to free Mother Russia from the Enemy invaders! Adjust your tactics to take into account the brutal weather conditions and wield the might of the Soviet Empire as you smash your way to Berlin.
The gameplay mainly revolves around capturing marked regions of the map that provide players with resources, which lets them call in units that range from infantry and deployable weaponry to tanks that can even drive through buildings without breaking a sweat.
Note that this giveaway is only for the base game, providing everyone access to the aforementioned Soviet single-player campaign, as well as the Soviet and German armies in multiplayer. Anyone interested in playing the Ardennes Assault campaign or jumping into multiplayer with the United States, Oberkommando West, or the United Kingdom armies will need to purchase the separate standalone expansions.
Usually available for $19.99, Company of Heroes 2 is now completely free to claim on the Humble Store for the next two days. The store will provide a key that is redeemable on Steam, and the game is playable on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
