Dell Precision 3540

Dell has announced fresh additions to its Precision 3000 lineup of mobile workstations, which are essentially the successors to last year's Precision 3530 laptop. The new Precision 3540 and Precision 3541 are both billed as Dell's budget-friendly laptops for "graphics or power-intensive tasks".

The 15.6-inch Precision 3540 is powered by quad-core Intel Core i5 or i7 8th generation processors paired with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB of built-in storage. Its graphics capability is courtesy of AMD's Radeon Pro graphics with 2GB of dedicated memory. Dell also says the laptop is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, coming in at 1.83kg and measuring 20.35 x 359.1 x 236.2mm. It comes with three operating system options: Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Home, or Ubuntu Linux 18.04. It's available to buy via Dell's online storefront starting today from $769.

On the other hand, the Precision 3541 will be available from May, with no word on its pricing just yet. It also features a 15.6-inch display as per the Precision 3540, optimized for viewing CAD applications and spreadsheets.

The laptop will be powered by either an octa-core 9th generation Intel Core or a hexa-core Intel Xeon processor and include NVIDIA's Quadro graphics with 4GB of dedicated memory.
