A while back, Dell introduced the Alienware Area-51m, a beast of a gaming laptop that uses actual desktop parts. Naturally, this required some innovative thermal solutions, but it seems that at some point, the company realized that those thermals could make as much of a difference on a laptop with regular H-series CPUs.
That's where the new Alienware m15 and Alienware m17 come in, which were announced at Computex today. The technology is called Cryo-Tech 3.0, and for the 15-inch model, it means a 10% larger CPU fan diameter, a 20% larger GPU fan diameter, 20% less airflow impedance, and 10 more total fan blades. On the 17-inch model, there's a 32% larger CPU fan, a 10% larger GPU fan, and 25% less airflow impedance.
The Alienware m15 has display options for 1080p at 60Hz, 1080p at 240Hz, and 4K OLED at 60Hz. The 17.3-inch m17 only comes in 1080p at 60Hz and 1080p at 144Hz, mainly because those are the only options that are available.
Of course, they're both offered with ninth-generation 45W Core CPUs, up to the Core i9-9980HK, and they both come with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design. Oddly, you can only configure them with up to 16GB DDR4 2666MHz.
Dell also announced a new G5 15 from its casual gaming lineup. It offers up to a Core i7-9750H processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti graphics with 6GB GDDR6.
Both the Alienware m15 and m17 will be available on June 11, starting at $1,499, while the Dell G5 15 will be available on May 28, starting at $799.
