Despite being dead, Office Mobile apps for Windows 10 are getting some improvements

Microsoft is rolling out an update to its Office Mobile apps on Windows 10, and it seems like there's actually a new feature on board. As spotted by WindowsBlogItalia, the update includes a new radial color picker for ink users, which should be more intuitive than before.

This redesign was actually spotted a while back, but it was shortly before Microsoft said that the Office Mobile apps would focus on Android and iOS, so it seemed like it had been scrapped.

According to the report, the feature is rolling out to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, but it's being activated on the server side, so you shouldn't need to receive an actual app update to see the changes. It's also a staged release, so you may not see it right away.

Of course, even with this update, it doesn't look like a lot more is going on with Office Mobile on Windows 10. The apps are still hidden from search results in the Store app, so you'll need to download Word from this link, PowerPoint from here, and Excel from here. Keep in mind that you'll need an Office 365 subscription to edit and create documents using these apps on screens larger than 10 inches.
